AfterGlow Technologies Installs Photoluminescent Safety Solutions at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Center for Architecture
NEW YORK (December 27, 2005) — AfterGlow Technologies, a division of Defense Holdings, Incorporated (DHI), has successfully installed photoluminescent safety egress systems in The American Institute of Architects (AIA) New York Chapter's cutting edge Center for Architecture.
"Since its inception, AfterGlow Technologies has worked closely with architects and property owners to develop comprehensive photoluminescent safety solutions," explained Richard Martin, President of DHI. "Architects in particular are critical to a successful, long-lasting and time-efficient system installation that can meet the specific needs, aesthetic requirements and budget of the building."
The AIA's Center for Architecture does not technically fall within the parameters of Local Law 26/04 for New York's commercial buildings, which mandates that photoluminescent markings be installed in all stairwells of commercial buildings more than 75 feet tall. But the AIA voluntarily complied to underscore the necessity of confronting total life safety issues in the design of the modern building.
To highlight the crucial role of the architect in confronting total life safety issues in modern buildings, AfterGlow Technologies presented two educational seminars at a recent AIA continuing education program. AfterGlow's courses explained the history behind New York City Local Law 26/04 and its requirements for photoluminescent egress pathway markings, reviewed the law's current applications , and discussed the future of photoluminescent products in architectural design. Seminar attendees were also given an on-site tour of the AfterGlow-installed AIA system.
AfterGlow also sponsors an AIA approved online continuing education course, encouraging collaboration among members of the design, construction and real estate communities. AfterGlow Technologies is the commercial division of DHI, the company selected by the Pentagon as its sole photoluminescent contractor for 9/11 reconstruction. AfterGlow offers unmatched technology and engineering expertise, as well as a comprehensive approach that make it the ideal partner for compliance with New York City Local Law 26/04. Well-suited to manage all aspects of large-scale projects, from product selection to logistics and installation, AfterGlow Technologies guarantees high-quality, a fixed-price and aesthetically-pleasing photoluminescent solutions for businesses and institutions.
